he model FSD 415 motorised fire-smoke dampers have been designed with carefully slected components to ensure long-lasting, trouble-free and reliable operation. Stainless steel components are used on moving parts, whenever possible and where necessary, so as to prevent seizure during a fire. It is designed to withstand thermal shock due to fire and hot gasses so that blade distortion is minimised and, hence, smoke leaking through the damper is reduced.

Fire-smoke dampers can effectively isolate fire zones and reduce the spread of toxic smoke and fire, and this keep the escape routes and fire-fighting access clear. When an HVAC system is turned off, the fire-smoke dampers still offer protection against the spread of fire and smoke.

Construction

The FSD 415 motorised fire-smoke dampers are constructed of high quality hot-dipped galvanised steel except for the breaing, jamb seal and blade-edge seal, which are constructed of bronze, stainless steel and silicon respectively. The damper sleeve is constructed of 2mm-thick galvanised steel that is fully welded at each corner. The blade is constructed of 1.2mm-thick specially formed with two ‘V’ and one ‘U’ grooves designed for rigidity. The blades with 13mm square steel axles at each end pivot on bronze bushes. Stainless steel compression jamb seal is incorporated on the vertical frames and silicon seal on the blade edge to minimise leakage.

Interconnecting blade linkages are located outside the air stream and pivot on stainless steel pins to prevent serizure. For damper installed within the wall the actuator may be installed inside a compartment on the damper with can be easily accessed by removing the access panel outside the duct as shown in figure 1. For wall mounted damper with actuator installed outside the wall, no actuator ccompartment will be provided as show in figure 2.
